We add -ed and -ing to some words, such as verbs, to change the meaning a little. We treat words that end in y a little differently. If we want to add -ing, we do not change the y at all, we simply add -ing. What if we want to add -ed? For words that end in a y that follows a vowel we add ed. If the y follows a consonant, we change the y to i and add -ed. This worksheet will help students better understand the exception to the spelling rule for words ending in y!
