Words Their Way is a classroom teacher’s resource book for in-class vocabulary, phonics and spelling instruction at all levels. Teachers can diagnosis/assess, students implement learning strategies and games that work, as well as post assess students to gage improvement. This book breaks spelling instruction into five levels across the grades K-12. Teachers determine what level their student is through a diagnostic assessment. A thorough explanation of each category and where students should place according to their developmental level is given within the text. Teachers can then remediate instruction through games within the book to improve spelling and literacy within the appropriate levels that their student is diagnosed to perform best at. This program can be implemented at any time and K-12 grade. A companion CD is full of games and a database to track progress, keep records and grade assesses, while making statistics for your class.
Games and strategies within this book can be used within centers, group instruction, interventions, and after-school tutoring or one-on-one teacher remediation.
