3rd Grade CCSS: Speaking and Listening

For third graders, this Common Core area helps students gain mastery of speaking and listening skills related to the language arts. Collaborative work, oral presentations, and the ability to integrate media, digital tools and group projects are the cornerstones of this area. Among the complete standards for this grade, third graders will be asked to: participate in collaborative discussions while following standard rules of listening, asking questions, explaining their own ideas, and speaking on topic, be able to understand materials read aloud, including absorbing details, be able to provide oral reports on appropriate topics, create audio recordings or stories which might include visual displays.
